Summer is here and it’s time to kick off your shoes, throw on some shorts and fire up the barbecue. While you’re at, invite a few wine-loving family and friends over because we have an exciting, but cheap, wine recommendation for you. We went back to the unheralded wine region of Lodi, located in California’s Central Valley wine region, to bring you another diamond in the rough. Two years ago we recommended the Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon from the Michael David Winery, in Lodi, which was not only one of our favorite (red) wines, but soon after it quickly became a household name, going from limited availability to being available in all major markets and grocery stores.
Today we’re back with another wine recommendation from Lodi, the 2014 White Knight Sauvignon Blanc. This diamond in the rough is a cheap, delicious and refreshing white wine. How cheap? At $12 per bottle it’s an absolute steal. This combination of price and deliciousness explains why this Sauvignon Blanc has received an average of 4 stars by reviewers, and makes the White Knight Sauvignon Blanc a Grape Certified Gold Medal winning white wine.
This rich, fruity white wine is a perfect complement to some of your favorite summertime foods. It’s especially good with meals centered around white meats or seafood dishes, like The Grape’s Healthy Chicken Fajitas recipe, which balances well when paired with this Sauvignon Blanc. Below we’ve suggested a few other meals that we think you’ll enjoy with a bottle of this award winning wine.
...this fresh, bright Sauvignon Blanc will excite the senses and tickle your fancy. - The Reverse Wine Snob
For the staff at The Grape, Sauvignon Blanc is an underrated (white) wine, especially when compared to the more popular Chardonnay. In fact, because of its sweeter profile, we’ve found it to be a great bridge, or conversion wine, for wine drinkers who don’t (yet) prefer white wine, especially when paired with a complementary dish. We suggest you buy (at least) 2 bottles, if not more, this way you can enjoy it now and later. You can buy the 2014 White Knight Sauvignon Blanc online or at local wine stores. Although this wine, is delicious on its own, its flavors are complemented by a variety of recipes. In addition to our earlier suggestion, we’ve included a few other recipe ideas below. We think you’ll really love this wine.
Winery: The White Knight Winery
Wine Region: Central Valley, Lodi, California
Wine Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Style: Rich & Fruity, w/ hints of citrus fruits
Food & Wine Pairings: The Grape’s Healthy Chicken Fajitas recipe
