Januik is one of two independent wineries that share a destination tasting room with Novelty Hill, in the peaceful and beautiful town of Woodinville, Washington. Under the direction of Mike Januik, one of Washington’s most acclaimed winemakers, we can expect nothing but the best. The grapes selected for this wine came from the famous Champoux Vineyard, located in the Horse Heaven Hills wine region. Famous for producing wines with exceptional depth, complexity and elegance. Plus, Seattle Times writer, Paul Gregutt listed the vineyard as one of the ‘top ten’ vineyards in the state of Washington.
Special holidays, like Thanksgiving, deserve special wines. Because of this specialness, which can be found at the Champoux Vineyard, we’re recommending the Januik Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a bold and smooth red wine and despite its $55 price, it routinely sells out quickly. Originally we planned to suggest you buy the 2010 or 2012 but both of those vintages may be difficult to get your hands on, and due to a freeze in 2011, there is no vintage for that year. But fear not, the 2014 is still readily available and tastes just as good.
As you open this bottle of wine you’ll be greeted with sweet smells of cherry, blackberry, chocolate, and cassis. The flavors mirror the aromas and linger just long enough, making it difficult to not take another sip, almost immediately. The full but sweet aromas and flavors of cherry, blackberry, raspberry, currant, mix with notes of dark chocolate, and toasty elements that continue to satisfy sip after sip. Originally we planned to recommend the 2010 or 2012 but both of those vintages may be difficult to get your hands on, and due to a freeze in 2011, there is no vintage for that year. But fear not, the 2014 is still readily available and tastes just as good.
