Wine Review

Located on the grounds of a historic equestrian center, the Black Stallion Winery is the latest addition to the distinguished collection of wineries in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Each of the varietals we produce is handcrafted and carefully blended from small vineyard lots. Each lot is fermented and aged separately in our cellar until just prior to bottling when we carefully blend these lots together to achieve wines of balance with layers of complex flavors. Black Stallion Winery is dedicated to crafting high quality wines that are elegant and distinctive yet approachable.

A triumph for the price ($25), this could not be more fitting for this red wine. Carefully blended from small vineyard lots, the refined 2013 Black Stallion Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon delights in its flavor. When first introduced, your senses will be taken by this wines color and smells. They (seem to) welcome you as if they know that you’re about to enjoy what’s coming. Once tasted, the full range of flavors begin to test your imagination. Everything from spearmint to spice and black mushrooms to chocolate, this wines deep flavor mix satisfies through a smooth and effortless finish. In short, we say that if you were to bet on a horse to be a winner, we’d pick this one all day long!

The 2013 Black Stallion Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied, flavorful and perfectly balanced. With vibrant aromas of blackberry, plum, vanilla and toasted oak you’ll be transported to another dimension of flavor. Concentrated flavors of rich cassis, plum and dark chocolate unfold gracefully across the palate with well-integrated fruit and tannins, and a long finish. This powerful, fruit-forward wine calls for succulent, flavorful dishes such as THEGRAPE’s Pan Seared Rib-Eye Steak Recipe with roasted shallots, creamy bleu cheeses, pepper-rubbed pork chops or duck breast with grilled plums.
