This Week In Wine 101: 9 Tips To Make Your Wine Tasting Trip A Hit
If you’re planning a trip to wine country, Grape! What are some simple tips to make a wine tasting trip a success? This is The Grape’s Guide To A Successful Wine Tasting Trip, including 9 tips to make your wine tasting trip a success. Consider the following when planning your trip to wine country.
This Week In Red Wine: Sokol Blosser Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2013 ($38)
Vintage after vintage, year after year, the Sokol Blosser Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is widely praised and highly acclaimed. The pinot noir grapes are highlighted in every bottle — a reflection of the Sokol Blosser winemaking style. They make elegant wines that express the pureness of their fruit and terroir. Expressive and bright, this red wine showcases dark fruit flavors of cherry and blueberry with earthy and spicy characteristics that are re ective of our Jory soil. The wine is smooth on the entry; red fruit is carried throughout, but with black cherry dominating the mid-palate with hints of cola and cassis on the finish. This wine possesses great depth of pure fruit flavor, strong structure, acid and persistent length. With proper cellaring this wine can be enjoyed for the next 10 to 15 years.
This Week In Throwback Thursday Wine Reveiws: Jam Cellars Butter Chardonnay 2014 ($16)
While some might say the straw-colored 2014 Jam Cellars Butter Chardonnay has a “delightfully aromatic profile,” at THEGRAPE we say it smells simply delicious. And that begins with vanilla scented oak and ripe pear. Once we allowed it to open up a bit, bringing it closer to room temperature, the flavors were more noticeable, with a touch of buttered toast and tropical fruitiness that rounded out the aromas and gave the Butter Chardonnay a little extra depth. Refreshing flavors of honeydew and pineapple combine with vanilla to draw together an enjoyably smooth finish that lingers just long enough.
