This Week In Wine 101: How To Impress Your Date With Wine
When it comes to dating, especially for some men, there is nothing more perplexing than trying to impress your date or significant other. And what if they’re a wine enthusiast? Having the confidence to find a bottle of wine they’ll enjoy can be all the more challenging. Whether she knows her favorite wines or he has yet to discover which wines he loves, matters not. While not every woman likes wine, there aren’t many who will decline a glass or even a bottle. Plus, there’s always an occasion for wine. We’ve compiled 10 GRAPE TIPS To Impress Your Date OR Significant Other.
In addition to introducing a new wine this week, a 2013 Red Blend from Brassfield, we take a look back at some of our favorite Grape Certified Red Blends of the Summer!
This Week In Red Wine: Brassfield Eruption Red 2013 ($18)
This week’s red wine Wednesday selection, the 2013 Brassfield Eruption Red, is a perfect example of why we love red blends so much. With red (or white) blends you have the opportunity to experience wine variety, unlike any other grape varietal. And even though no two wines tastes the same, the chance for flavor variety is unmatched with red blends.
This Week In Red Wine Reviews: Amalaya Malbec Red Blend ($15)
When we first had the chance to taste the Amalaya Malbec Red Blend, at THEGRAPE, to say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement given it’s reputation. The Amalaya Malbec Red Blend is largely (re)viewed as a good value wine but our experience, year after year, bottle after bottle, and glass after glass, has been so much more than good; it’s been great! From 2010 to 2013 we’ve had the pleasure of discovering what we believe is a true Diamond in the Rough red wine.
This Week In Red Wine: Yalumba The Scribbler 2012 Red Blend ($19)
It’s not often we come across wines, red or white, that are the total package but we strive to bring you the absolute best wines in both taste and price, bringing you the best values on the market. In 2014 we found the total wine package in the 2013 Amalaya Malbec Red Blend. In 2015 we found the total wine package in the 2012 Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2016 the total wine package can be found in the 2012 Yalumba The Scribbler Red Blend.
This Week In Red Wine: 14 Hands Hot to Trot Red Blend 2013 ($12)
The highly acclaimed, 2011 Sokol Blosser Peach Tree Block Pinot Noir allures with blue fruit characteristics and spice as a young, focused wine. The signature Jory soil terroir with its spicy mineral finish is well represented in this wine. It possesses great depth of pure fruit flavor, strong structure, acid, and a persistent length. This wine, is worthy of lengthy aging, and with proper cellaring can be enjoyed for the next ten to fifteen years.

This Week In Food and Wine: Shrimp Ceviche And Wine
Appetizers are always fun! Whether it’s your favorite chips and salsa or dip, or a combination of finger foods, the pre-meal, pre-event snack is a tradition recognized all over the world. Today we’d like to share a Mexican classic that’s as fun to make, as it is to eat. That dish is shrimp ceviche, a deliciously orchestrated chunky salsa. But it’s more than just salsa. Shrimp ceviche and wine is a fusion of complex flavors, including seafood, citrus, cilantro, onion and more.
