Wine Review

The Sokol Blosser Winery is both family-owned and operated and dedicated to creating world-class wines. Today, the second-generation winegrowers of Sokol Blosser continue the ‘good to earth’ policy through certified-organic farming, sustainable business practices and low impact packaging. In fact, they were also the first US winery to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification – and recently became a Certified B Corporation. If you love wine, and like to support environmentally conscious businesses, try Sokol Blosser wines.

The 2013 growing season was one of the driest in the last 20 years, strangely making it one of the best years for pinot noir. The attention to detail exhibited by the Sokol Blosser winery, including handpicked, 100% organic grapes, explains why this pinot noir is so delicious and smooth. It’s also why you’ll wanna move fast to grab one of the (limited) 9,700 cases that were produced. This wine is delicate, well structured, and will benefit from long-term aging. In fact, you should probably pick up two cases so you can experience the 2013 Sokol Blosser Dundee Hills Pinot Noir every year for the next 15 years because it cellars so well.

The pioneering winery Sokol Blosser added no new vineyards, but a new generation seems to have rediscovered its mojo. -- Harvey Steiman of Wine Spectator

Vintage after vintage, year after year, the Sokol Blosser Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is widely praised and highly acclaimed. The pinot noir grapes are highlighted in every bottle — a reflection of the Sokol Blosser winemaking style. They make elegant wines that express the pureness of their fruit and terroir. Expressive and bright, this red wine showcases dark fruit flavors of cherry and blueberry with earthy and spicy characteristics that are re ective of our Jory soil. The wine is smooth on the entry; red fruit is carried throughout, but with black cherry dominating the mid-palate with hints of cola and cassis on the finish. This wine possesses great depth of pure fruit flavor, strong structure, acid and persistent length. With proper cellaring this wine can be enjoyed for the next 10 to 15 years.
