“This is a carefully made, almost calculated [red] wine that showcases controlled herbaceousness around tight, crisp black fruits. The mix [of flavors] evokes earth, herb, barrel and grape.” – P.G.

“This [Novelty Hill wine] portfolio over-delivers in a very big way.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Wine Review

The Columbia Valley is the largest wine-growing region in Washington and encircles a number of smaller wine regions, which include: Rattlesnake Hills, Red Mountain, Yakima Valley, and Walla Walla Valley, to name a few. While many popular wine varieties flourish in this vast and fruitful region, Merlot is the main grape varietal planted throughout the wine region, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Riesling with a great many more to come.

The acclaimed 2011 Stillwater Creek Merlot is bright and focused across the mid-palate, with layered flavors that linger through a rich silky finish. Take in the lush fresh cherry, blueberry and ripe plum aromas and flavors that fill the glass and coat the palate. Wine Spectator described the 2011 vintage Stillwater Creek Merlot as, “Dense and focused, offering coffee and cocoa overtones to the dark berry and floral flavors, finishing on a peppery note.”

While you can certainly cellar this delightful red wine, why not enjoy it now with friends and family over dinner? The 2011 Stillwater Creak Merlot pairs well with roast beef or roasted chicken seasoned with herbs, and a side of vegetables; your favorite vegan chili; or something a little more exotic, like duck with a cherry and red wine vinegar sauce.
