Meiomi, pronounced may-o-mee, is a native word from the Wappo tribe, and means ‘coast’. The name symbolizes the coastal origin of the grapes and roots of the wine. When Joseph Wagner, owner and winemaker, introduced the 2002 Pinot Noir label as an ideal food pairing wine, and sourced grapes from multiple coastal sites it gained the attention of foodies and wine enthusiasts alike and made an impact. Today, Meiomi maintains its reputation as a leading luxury wine and is still a favorite in restaurants. The blend of grapes used for this wine are as follows: 49% Santa Barbara – offering exotic sweet spice and lively tropical fruit notes; 30% Sonoma County – offering crisp apple and lean minerality; 21% Monterey County – offering ripe stone fruit core and round, creamy texture. The 2013 Meiomi Chardonnay has a light straw-gold color – a blend of bright, enticing layers of citrus fruit, pineapple, subtle minerality as well as candied Asian pear aromas arouse the senses. On the palate, exotic, warm spice notes enhance the complex palate of juicy tropical fruit, apple cream pie, peach, hazelnut and vanilla crème brûlée. Enjoy a creamy lush mouth-feel that is clean with vibrant acidity. Wine Enthusiast wrote the following about the 2013 Meiomi Chardonnay, “An unabashedly rich and luscious wine, this [wine] combines ripe and fresh fruit flavors with luxurious spicy, buttery accents and an almost thick texture.
