Wine Review

The Columbia Valley is the largest wine-growing region in Washington and encircles a number of smaller wine regions, which include: Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima Valley, Walla Walla Valley, and more. While many popular wine varieties flourish in this vast and fruitful region, Chardonnay falls in line as the third most popular grape variety grown throughout the wine region.

The 2013 vintage experienced some-what temperate weather conditions. Despite a warm summer, cool temperatures and light rain fostered hang time development for the grapes, which led to incredible fruit flavors and character in the wine.

The 2013 Columbia Crest H3 Chardonnay is truly elegant! A medium-bodied white wine that reveals rich aromas of spiced pear and freshly sliced apples with notes of blossoms and honey. Hints of tasty coconut join flavors of white orchard fruits, pineapple, grapefruit and sweet oak, ending with a lengthy finish of creamy vanilla. Try pairing this wine with: lemon rosemary pan roasted chicken, seared scallop pasta, Hawaiian pizza, or a baked falafel pita – all complement the wine quite well. Enjoy now or cellar a couple of bottles for later on this year.
