Wine Review

The Columbia Valley is the largest wine-growing region in Washington and encircles a number of smaller wine regions, which include: Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima Valley, Walla Walla Valley, and more. While many popular wine varieties flourish in this vast and fruitful region, Cabernet Sauvignon is the second most popular grape variety grown throughout the wine region.

The consensus for the 2010 Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon is that it is great and now we know why! The lush alluring aromas of ripe cherry and chocolate are followed by flavors of black cherry, chocolate, with a hint of vanilla. All of which continue to unfold in layers, offering a nice complex finish. Paul Gregott of Wine Enthusiast described this wine as, “[The 2010 Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon is a] wide-open, flavorful wine, lifted by accents of tobacco and cocoa that sit above the light and pretty cherry flavor. The finish is [loaded] with a mocha note, which provides a pleasing conclusion.”

Looking to plan a meal around this satisfying red wine? The 2010 Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with: bacon wrapped filet mignon steaks, chorizo rice and tomato, scallop potatoes and ham, and even black bean, sweet potato, and quinoa stuffed bell peppers. Enjoy!
