Wine Review – Charles & Charles Rosé 2016

It seems Rosé wines have been all the rage lately. They have good flavor, are usually refreshing, and are priced really well, if not cheaply. Blah, blah, blah. What’s the point, people? If you’re not looking to drink wine that’s not only cheap but great tasting, why go to all the trouble of searching for and reading wine reviews? Because that’s exactly what you’re looking for and that’s what we believe we have for you this week. The 2016 Charles & Charles Rosé, from the Columbia Valley wine region in Washington, is absolutely fabulous! And by fabulous, we mean this wine is awesome, fantastic and spectacular! It is the perfect wine for spring and summer, but also the warmer days of fall. Even its color throws you for a loop because it leans towards a blush; however, once you open the bottle, all the turn-on’s begin to emerge.

First to hit you is the watermelon and fresh fruits that entertain your senses and make your mouth water. Remember that one candy fruit flavored candy you used to  to a Jolly Rancher. Next, is the rush of flavors that fill your mouth and excite your sun shining soul. Red fruit flavors like strawberry, raspberry and Bing cherries combine with a touch of citrus to refresh the day and bring this Rosé wines vibrancy to life. If it’s complexity you seek, this wine will see your depth and raise you three layers! Additional notes of grass, rose petal and minerality seem to ground this wines body and deliver a balance and finish you won’t soon forget.

So, if you find yourself with sun on your face and no drink in hand, the 2016 Charles and Charles Rosé is a must buy. How the grapes are sourced, from a mix of vineyards, and the grape varieties chosen, bring together a collaboration that wins all the way through the finish. Like previous vintages, the 2016 Charles & Charles Rosé, is a delicious reminder of what Rosé should be, at a price ($13) that makes it incredibly enjoyable and easy to swallow.

A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Counoise... this wine... brings a lot of enjoyment. -- Wine Enthusiast

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, we suggest you stock up on this, not so rare, and incredibly delicious, pink diamond of a wine. The 2016 Charles and Charles Rosé is crafted to drink today, tomorrow and whenever the mood calls for a refreshing beverage. In the grape vintages to come, we fully expect future Charles and Charles Rosé wines to be as good if not better, so we suggest you grab at least a ½ case, or 6 bottles, of this pink diamond. A hint of the deliciousness is only heightened by the blend of the following grape varietals: the deep character and flavors of Cabernet and Grenache; and the beautifully tasty, if not sweet, characteristics of Syrah. The grape combinations make for a most delicious red wine blend with hints of refreshingly, luscious fruits, that will leave your taste buds applauding the inventive fusion of flavors. So, if you come across this in your local wine store, like Specs, BevMo or Total Wine, or your local grocery or wine store, make sure you grab a few bottles. You’ll love it.
