Brownies And Wine - Whatever Makes You Smile Brownies - THEGRAPE

Food & Wine Friday’s – August 14, 2015: Whatever Makes You Smile Brownies And Wine!

This Week In Food & Wine: To Die For Brownies and Wine!

Have you ever had one of those days where you wish you’d never gotten out of bed and you could start all over? Well, unfortunately those days do exist and because of this at THEGRAPE we’re giving you a little something that we believe will change that thought quickly… brownies and wine! Yup, you heard it! Who doesn’t love the comforting feel of a soft, warm, melt in your mouth, perfectly cooked brownie?

And if the brownie wasn’t enough to put a smile on your face, how about some well paired wines so that each and every time you fill your mouth with deliciousness, your horrible day just melts away. Yes friends, we here at TheGrape have those days too and for that, we thought we’d share one of the easiest and most delicious ways to turn that frown upside down. Enough talk; grab a glass of wine and let’s invoke our mulligan for a much better day! You’ll find our Grape Certified wine recommendations after the recipe. Cheers!

It’s time for your Whatever Makes You Smile Brownies!

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup butter, melted
  2. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2 teaspoons vanilla
  6. 1/2 cup flour
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt

Bonus Ingredients

  1. 1 -2 cup chocolate chips (semisweet, white, butterscotch, peanut butter)
  2. 1 -2 cup raisins
  3. 1 -2 cup chopped maraschino cherry
  4. 1 -2 cup chopped nuts
  5. 1 -2 cup M&M’
  6. 1 -2 cup Reese’s pieces
  7. 1 -2 cup miniature marshmallow

Cooking Instructions

  1. First, preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Next, grease an 8-inch square pan or line one with foil.
  3. Now, in a medium bowl combine melted butter and cocoa and stir until the cocoa is completely dissolved.
  4. Next, add the sugar and mix well.
  5. Followed by the eggs, one at a time and then stir everything until well combined.
  6. At this point, you can stir in the vanilla, the flour and the salt until you no longer see any flour. It’s important that you do not over mix!
  7. Now here’s the best part! Add in Whatever Makes You Smile!
  8. Once added, go ahead and spread in the pan and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
  9. Once done, let your Whatever Makes You Smile brownies cool completely before cutting into squares. We recommend a small side of Whole Foods Market Vanilla Ice Cream and you can sit back and enjoy the happiness these brownies and wine will bring with each mouthful of deliciousness! Cheers!

NOTE: To avoid drying out your brownies (a) DO NOT over bake them (time); and (b) make sure you adjust the time and temperature for your oven (and altitude). When you do the toothpick test, it should come out with moist crumbs, not clean.

NOTE: To double this brownies and wine recipe, bake in 9×12 pan and add 5 minutes of baking time.
