12 Oct Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Today In Wine: Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 ($83)
“Some super ripe notes give this wine a raisin-skin bitterness, but there’s no denying its immediate lushness. Softly tannic, it has fantastic flavors of black currants and sweet toasted oak. If you drink it now, give it a few hours in the decanter.” – Wine Enthusiast

Alpha Omega is a quaint boutique winery nestled in the heart of Napa Valley. It began its steady journey in 2006 to become one of the great wine estates in the world. Winemaker, Jean Hoefliger teamed up with notorious Bordeaux-based oenoglist (wine expert), Michel Rolland to produce wines that express their passion for excellence and resonate the very essence of Napa Valley’s wine region. So what happens when you combine a talented winemaker, a world-renowned palate, and prized grapes from a collection of appellations within Napa? Finesse-driven features, complex and balanced wines that not only express tantalizing aromas but also multiple flavors that unfold layer by layer and melt in your mouth.
The highly acclaimed Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious! Showcasing stone fruit aromas and flavors of: cherry, plum, cedar, vanilla, black currant with soft traces of cinnamon and blackberries. A well-balanced wine with lower alcohol levels, subtle yet fresh aromas that deliver a delicious smooth finish.
Antonio Galloni of Wine Adovate, described this wine as, “Seriously beautiful. A dark imposing wine, the 2010 wraps around the palate with layers of persistent dark fruit. There is a brooding inner intensity that is highly appealing. Today, the 2010 is very primary, but it should develop nicely and continue to drink well for another decade, perhaps longer. Hints of mocha espresso add complexity on the racy, expansive finish.”
Enjoy the 2011 Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon now or wait a while; it may also be aged for another 5 years and will still taste amazing. We recommend pairing this wine with THEGRAPE’s Cheesy Potato Sausage Casserole Recipe, or try Campbell’s BBQ salmon salad. Think outside the box and go for a hearty venison stew, or a mushroom lentil burger. All are equally appetizing.
