Wine Review

The name, ’14 Hands’ was inspired by a time when wild mustangs used to roam freely throughout the hills of east Washington state. Small in stature, only measuring a mere fourteen hands high – every day the horses would travel down from the hills to drink from the Columbia River, grazing along the riverbank before heading back up the hills at night. Both strong and tenacious, these small horses became known for their endurance and wild spirit.  Today, it is these very qualities that feed their vines. The terroir is a combination of fertile soil, sand, and gravel, which help produce both big, bold juicy red wines and crisp, fruit-forward white wines.

The highly appreciated, 2012 Hot to Trot White Blend showcases fresh aromas of white stone fruits and citrus, accented by floral notes. On the palate, enjoy flavors of pear, melon and lemon zest balanced by crisp acidity, ending with a vibrant refreshing finish. Wine Enthusiast left the following review, “Luscious, ripe fruit flavors of grapefruit, melon and loads of fresh pear combine to show a wonderfully fresh and tasty white wine. The acids lift up the brightness, and this round and fruity style is a can’t miss proposition.”

Drink now and enjoy with angel chicken pasta, or TheGrape’s black pepper encrusted ahi tuna. Another delicious dish to try is the grilled salmon with chili and lime butter. If you’re vegetarian inclined, try the spinach stuffed shells – all pair well with this wine!
